ToolNet Desktop: Alpha Version Now Available for Testing
Take ToolNet beyond the browser. Our native desktop application alpha is now available for early testers and contributors.
While ToolNet's web platform is more powerful than ever, many of our users handle 1,000+ files a day and require deep integration with their local file systems. Today, we are excited to announce the first alpha release of ToolNet Desktop.
Native Performance, Browser Privacy
ToolNet Desktop is built using the same WASM engines that power our website, but with the added performance of a native environment. This means faster access to multi-terabyte drives and seamless integration with OS-level context menus (e.g., Right-click -> ToolNet -> Compress).
Offline by Default & Air-Gap Ready
While our web app has strong offline support, the Desktop version is designed to work entirely without an internet connection from day one. All conversion libraries and AI models are bundled with the installer, ensuring you have the tools you need in any environment. This is the ultimate tool for secure, air-gapped workstations.
Desktop Integration
ToolNet Desktop is a testament to how far web technologies have come. We're proving that you can have 'Cloud Convenience' with 'Native Integrity'. It is a major step in our journey to de-centralize the web.
How to Download the Alpha
The alpha is currently available for macOS (Apple Silicon) and Windows 11. We are looking for technical users to provide feedback on the install experience and file system performance. Check the 'Releases' section on our GitHub for download instructions.
